I was thinking the same thing.  The archies have been playing with it for while know but none of those projects have hit the CD phase yet.
IT would be nice to mine something from it.

You can export a sketchup model to various 3D model formats including dwg...is that not what you are looking for?

i'm using the freebee version, maybe in my ignorance , i didn't realise that might be my problem, but, just in case, can it be exported in sketch up, (the free vesion) into dwg format, i've had a look and its not apperent to me.

thanks

oh yes...i forgot about the free version.  I have the full so that's the difference.  Sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to do what you want with the free version.

The free version is limited for CAD format exporting and for images making.

Just download the pro version too and use it (very rapidely) to export to 3DS or DWG.
The pro version is not limited in the calendar but in the total amount of time you use it.

for what it's worth, Revit 9 can import native .skp files.  Just in case you by chance have access to a seat of that.  Don't know about many other programs with similar abilities though.

Yeah second that.  We have the commercial seats.

Question for you guys.

How good is the model to steal from.  Can the parts be change over to ACAD 2d elements? How easily?  And with what degree of accuracy?

If not can the model be traced over?

I have a customer that uses it. He exports the the objects out somehow and each part comes in as a block. Then he sets my settings to measure block entities and it creates the cut list for him. If you explode the blocks you are left with faces I believe.

You may be able to use meshtosolid to convert those, but have not tried.

That's right, only faces and/or meshes.

I forgot to say here that there has been a plug-in for quite along time allowing you to import from or export to ADT (can't remember).
It is still available
