Is there a way to access the authorization code for an installation of acad? We're replacing computers around here and the fellow who did the prior installations is no longer here, and I can't seem to find where he put the authorization code (if he recorded it).

Call your reseller. Or Autodesk. They can get the info for you.

Also, take a look in the installation folder for an HTML file called RegInfo*.html

For example, the one I have for Map 5 is

C:\Program Files\Autodesk Map 5\RegInfoMAP.html

The authorization code is in there, just open it with Firefox or Internet Exploder
